Caffeine and berberine inhibit carnitine uptake in skeletal muscle, while insulin modestly enhances it

Found this interesting study looking at people with a genetic disorder the reduces carnitine stores in the muscle, results are that while insulin increase uptake AMPK activators reduced it, the reason why is unclear.
Still I will be rephrasing the advice on taking L carnitine.

So I guess this is more evidence that berberine shouldn’t be taken before a workout, huh.

Honestly I am not convinced the downsides outweigh the upsides for berberine preworkout, since the ampk activation suppressing muscle growth is a maybe(in terms of evidence), and the nutrition partitioning/pump seems very helpful.

No, this really doesn’t tell us anything. Human clinical trials would yield different results especially combined with training.

So if you’re one of the 1 out 100,000 people who have PCR this may be relevant?
