C4 Carbonated Purple Frost Energy Drink

Taste

Purple Frost – Purple Frost is the first flavor off the carbonated energy drink line that removed artificial colors and dyes. With that change the flavor is not as strong as you would find in the original four flavors. Upon first sip you get a subtle undertone of grape that never picked up in the aftertaste. I was hoping for a diet Fanta or a grape Kool-Aid knock off, but the flavor density never picked up. Given there are no artificial colors or dyes in this flavor it will be hard to match the flavor of the original flavors.

Formula

The formula carries over vitamin B6 and B12, which is found in both Bang and Hyde Power Potion. There is also a performance energy blend of 6.7g that contains:

Beta-Alanine – Designed to delay the onset of fatigue, resulting in improved power and performance

Citrulline Malate – Supports an increase in nitric oxide levels, pumps, and delays lactic acid build up

Betaine – Maintains your cells’ electrolyte concentration and supports hydration

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine – Supports mental and cognitive health.

Compared to Bang & Hyde, which have COQ10 and BCAA’s, this is a different twist to an energy drink. I personally find these hit just as hard as their competition and provide a minor boost during training.

Cost

$22.40 Case of 12 which is under $2. Stop into any convenience store and most people pay around $2.50-$3 a can. With the discount, it is very affordable and comparable to other energy drinks on the market. Given the cost, formula, and taste I would suggest these carbonated energy drinks for an afternoon get me up, replacement to coffee, or a carbonated pre-workout beverage.

Comparison

So here is the big one most people want to know. How does it stack up vs Bang and hyde Power potion.

Let us first understand what each one has and what differs.

Bang à Stronger Carbonation, BCAA, Creatine, COQ10, B12, B6, Taurine, 300mg Caffeine

Hyde à Less Carbonation, Sweeter Taste, 350mg Caffeine, LCLT (recovery), Citrulline (Pump), Teacrine & Choline (Nootropics)

Cellucor Energy Drink à Moderate Carbonation, bold flavors, No artificial colors/dyes (Purple Frost), Blend of Beta-Alanine (Endurance), Betaine (Performance), Citrulline (Pump/ Prevent Lactic Acid Build Up)

For those looking for the strongest energy and focus à Hyde

If you favor straight flavor à Bang

If you favor Performance and a good tasting product à C4 Energy Drinks

The Hyde taste horrible :face_vomiting:, and that’s Super Creatine in Bang!

If you are looking for just caffeine like most are with an energy drink just get the rockstar grape, arguably the best tasting (it is the best imo) and is without question the cheapest 2 for $3 at most stores and gas stations, which also makes it the easiest to obtain.

But if you are looking for an RTD preworkout, get the c4… personally I’d spring for the C4 Ultimate too.

Oh THAT’S what I tried that was so good. I kept thinking it was Bang or Monster grape that I tasted. Nope, it was Rockstar. That was some tasty stuff. I just ordered a case of C4 Grape to give it a go. Their Tropical Blast is very good, and the Bombsicle is okay (sorry Bob  ). C4 has just the right amount of caffeine for me at 200 mg (although Rockstar isn’t that much higher at 240).

Bombsicle is good, Twisted Lime is my favorite the more I drink it. We all have different taste buds, and they do have more flavors in the works (Orange Slice) which will be coming out in the future.

#5

Only downside is the unnecessary 130 or so calories from that compared to the 0 calories of the other options

#6

they make a pure zero grape my brother (which was what i was referring too)

#7

Looking forward to that one.

Alright! It just arrived, and I tossed one in the freezer for an hour. I’d say it tastes like a light grape popsicle flavor…like if New York Seltzer were to make this flavor. I dig it! :+1:

Yup… Its on the lighter side, but super refreshing. Its also nice because of the no dyes or artificial colors so it settles much easier on the stomach.
