Taste

Chocolate Peanut Butter – Blue Star recently took their whey smooth flavors and introduced them into their isolate protein powder Iso-Smooth. I had the pleasure of trying Whey Smooth Chocolate Peanut Butter in the past and wanted to see how the flavoring would carry over as a pure isolate. Blue Star really perfected the milk chocolate flavor, but the chocolate to peanut butter ratio makes the chocolate in strong command. The peanut butter flavor is on point with a welcoming dense and creamy addition, but it’s doesn’t carry enough weight to compliment the chocolate. While the balance is off you do get both elements in a very heavy chocolate flavor. If Blue Star dialed up the amount of peanut butter offered in their protein it would make it a match made in heaven since the chocolate is top-tier.

Mixability

I have had the Blue Star Vanilla Isolate in the past, and this mixes exactly the same. Just like most isolate protein powders on the market the makeup is very fine and thin in nature. It only takes a few shakes in a blender bottle, and this is a protein powder you can even mix with a spoon and cup. When you use a ninja blender there will be no clumps or leftover chunks throughout the protein shake. I am a big fan of mixing 1 scoop of isolate in Greek yogurt to make a protein pudding. After stirring my spoon for 10-15 seconds the protein mixed with ease.

Thanks for sharing, Bob.
Could you please provide a comparison brand, a chocolate peanut butter flavor, yielding a 91% protein per serving or higher? It’s nice for us to know this on our end… or at least close to this.
Thanks!

I doubt companies would provide me a
COA with that information unless it’s posted available in their website

For example Iso100
Allmax isoflex
Core Iso
Etc

That may be too confidential to be released to a general consumer

You don’t need a COA to be able to calculate the label (protein/serving size).
Allmax Isoflex is a good comparison… thank you. With this said, was this more of the chocolate peanut butter you enjoyed?

It’s enjoyable, but in my eyes it needs a much stronger Pb compliment. I would say it is 80/20 or 75/25 in favor of chocolate:

Maybe I just enjoy peanut butter too much

Your base chocolate and vanilla are amazing for a pure Isolate and rank among the best on the market. The compliment PB is just too low for my liking . That’s just me, but others may prefer the lighter PB flavor. I know Matt pointed this out as well, but the density of the chocolate just vastly overpowers the subtle peen it butter inclusion

Thank you for the review Bob, this is a flavor I enjoy. I use a little less water, more around 6-8oz since it mixes so smoothly and the flavor intensity increases. Being a chocolate PB protein lover myself ( I have tried almost all of them ) I agree this is lighter but then again the stronger flavors I have had were blends, not a pure isolate.

Enjoy the rest of the tub!
